Sometimes in the comments, sometimes in private, I get messages like „If you want peace, don't provoke a war“, „Let's not irritate the Russian bear“ and so on.
To all such pacifists and woolly dalba*obs, regardless of their degrees, I reply.
You are literally sack*b*obs. In war, everything is called by its own name, briefly and clearly. And I've been in it for more than 2 years, and more than 13 months of that specifically on the frontline in the hottest spots. So I am forgiven for being non-political.
Lithuania has a population of about 2.5 million, Russia about 140 million. What can we provoke in this context...? This is not only a huge difference in population, but also in military and defence capacity. Who can we attack, who can we chant to, who can we provoke...?
I dare to remind such Dalba*obs that Smetona's Lithuania did not provoke the war either. And Ukraine did not provoke a war, but first it was Crimea, then Donbas, then Kiev in 3 days.
For the last few decades, the Kremlin's shrinks have been doing just that, fighting one war with another.
1991 - Sakartvel, 1992 - Moldova (Transnistria), 1994 - Chechnya (first Chechen executioner), 1999 - march to Pristina (Yugoslavia), 1999 - Chechnya (second Chechen executioner), 2008 - South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Sakartvel, 2009 - North Caucasus, 2014 - annexation of the Crimea, Donbass war, 2015 - Syria, 2018 - Central African Republic, 2022 - Ukraine, Kiev in 3 days.
If the Kremlin's shrinks find this war to their advantage, there will be a war, and they are not hiding it, they are openly saying who is next, that they are not at war with Ukraine but with NATO. When the neighbour is the aggressor, there is no need to provoke a war, because the neighbour will still attack if it sees that you are weak. There is only one deterrent against such a neighbour, strong eggs. We must have air defences such that any attempt to attack us leaves the Kremlin's shreds no chance. We must have lines of defence that are impregnable to the Kremlin's shredders. And to do that we need air defences and armoured vehicles and artillery and all kinds of drones and the most advanced radio-electronic warfare and lots and lots of missiles and mines. And above all, for that we need strong eggs, very strong eggs, believe me.
LIETUVA IS NOT PROVOKING ANYTHING, WE ARE JUST PREPARING TO DEFEND!
And while Ukraine, while we Lithuanians who are still fighting there, are holding the front in Ukraine, it is time to prepare for our defence. We can only postpone Day X by providing assistance to the Lithuanians fighting there, as well as to Ukraine itself.
When Day X comes, the war will affect everyone, absolutely everyone, whether you are a pacifist or a vatnik waiting for the Kremlin to shake the red carnations, you will lose everything, your loved ones, your jobs, your businesses, your property, and many of you your lives, but for now most of you hope that it will not affect them personally, that it will happen to someone else, but not them. Holy naivety, it will not happen, it will not be possible for anyone to stay away.
